Three colors of the Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons are removed in Japan. This may not affect players around the world, but may be a clue that controllers may be out of stock soon elsewhere. On the My Nintendo store, these color sets have been replaced by “Out of stock”.
The colors out of stock on the Japanese site of Nintendo are gray, neon yellow and red. The Neon Yellow option was sold when Arms was released, while Red was launched around the launch of Super Mario Odessey. Some Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Color Options Are Being Discontinued In Japan
Players who want these colors must act quickly before leaving for good. Nintendo Switch owners can still find these products in stores before they run out. The Switch is a regionless console, so international games may attempt to purchase these exhausted colors.
Japanese players can purchase individual Joy-Cons, but the price increase is quite large compared to purchasing a set. There is no information whether other colors will soon arrive to replace these three colors in Japan. Nintendo has not announced why these colors are discontinued, or if it is only a manufacturing problem due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
